Blog entry for The Raw Foods Diet Newsletter

Wow, last nights teleseminar was
incredible! We covered almost
everything you need to do a
successful juice fast and cleanse.

You can listen to the audio at
My page on Juice Fasting
(E-mail me if you'd like a copy of the transcript)

Did you take good notes last
night? If you missed the call,
the audio will be available on
my website soon.

I apologize for the trouble getting
into the call, the line opened up
five minutes late.

John Rose has been hosting an
incredible radio show for the past
two weeks. You can listen to them
by clicking on these links. You can

Here are my answers to a few questions I
received after the call.

Q. About the two herbs that are helpful, I do not
know how to spell the first, less strong one he
was talking about (i.e. not Senna). Can you give
me the name?

A. The two herbs John mentioned that could be
used during the juice fast are Cascara Sagrada
and/or Senna. The herbs should not be used
alone, they should be part of a collection of herbs
in a colon cleanse formula. John prefers cascara
sagrada over senna.

What is dry skin brushing?

A skin brush is essential for cleaning the skin,
increasing circulation, and assisting the body as
it eliminates toxins through the skin. Brush the
skin before showers. Start with the feet and
always brush gently towards the heart. I use the
brush every morning.

Q. What was the official conclusion about juicing
and taking it with you when you don't have a
high quality juicer?

A. If you have a high quality juicer, you may juice
a whole days supply and bring it with you to
work in airtight containers. If you do not have a
good juicer, you’ll need to consume the juice
soon after it’s made.

You may also use the Master Cleanse recipe to
substitute for fresh juice. This is used if you are
unable to make fresh juice throughout the day.

The recipe is found in the book "The Master
Cleanser", by Stanley Burroughs. John Rose
recommends using raw agave nectar instead of
maple syrup. The recipe for one glass is as follows:

Two Tbsp. lemon (1/2 lemon)
2 Tbsps of raw agave nectar
1/10 tsp. cayenne pepper powder or to taste
12 oz of purified or distilled water (very warm)

Combine ingredients and drink. Use the hottest
cayenne pepper powder you can find, which is
usually 90,000 heat units.

Q. What should the base of the juices be?

A. John recommended 60% fruit, 40% leafy greens
and vegetables. The Hippocrates Green Drink is a
great base for a juice. It is served twice a day at
the Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida. It is 25%
celery, 25% cucumber, and 50% sunflower green

Three of the best juices are wheatgrass, grapes, and
watermelon, be sure to juice the watermelon rind.

Q. Is it okay to combine fruit and vegetable juices?

A. Yes, this is okay. The juice is full of enzymes so
your body doesn’t need to digest the juice. The
nutrients are absorbed immediately.

The absorbion of most juices is increased when you
chew the juice first. It is important to chew wheatgrass
juice for two minutes before swallowing.

The one exception to the chewing rule is for pineapple
juice. This juice should be chugged alone on an empty
stomach. Do not consume any other juices for at least
a half hour. The pineapple enzymes are very powerful.

Speaking of juice, I'm talking with Jay “The Juiceman”
Kordish to see if he'll be my next teleseminar guest.
Jay knows more about juicing than anyone else in the
world. This is his brand new website, the newsletter
page isn’t fully functional yet.
